The Association for Construction Career Development (ACCD)

was initiated by the AZCCD event team in 2007. This came about due to the event becoming a bigger need than just a committee and thus became the ACCD association to support the growing need for students, teachers and career counselor to understand better the many career opportunities that are available in the Construction Industry.

The AZCCD members, Charmaine Flint, NAWIC Member, Bonnie Hall, NAWIC member and Dave Nelson, Federal Highways Representative have been in operation since 1999 providing an introductory event known as Arizona Construction Career Days (AZCCD) held in Phoenix, AZ. Humberto Martinez, National Construction Career Days Representative, became our mentor during our planning stages of the first event.

From the beginning, AZCCD has been an example of public-private partnerships. As evidence of the interest in the construction industries in the AZCCD events, our statistics show that there have been more than 280 exhibitors displays and 300 pieces of equipment.

Our event reaches out to High School students throughout the State of Arizona to give them a hands-on construction experience.

Public-private partnerships remain central to the Construction Career Days concept and to the vision and mission of the Association for Construction Career Development. It is in working together and sharing information among the many industry partners that the construction industry is effectively promoted to America's youth and the workforce of the 21st Century.
